Behind the natural beauty of Southwest Sumba (SBD), there are still many toddlers who suffer from malnutrition or lack of nutrition. The NTT Provincial Health Office even revealed that in 2023, the highest cases of toddlers with malnutrition occurred in SBD Regency.

Malnutrition can be caused by many factors, including: lack of good quality food ingredients, lack of parental knowledge about toddler nutrition, lack of parental income to meet children's nutritional needs, lack of access to clean water and sanitation, and others. Malnutrition can cause children to be underweight and have weak immune systems, so they are at risk of serious illnesses, even death.

We invite you to change the above conditions by supporting the NUTRITIONAL GARDEN ecosystem program in Southwest Sumba. Through this program, children can get better nutrition because of the increase in food sources obtained thanks to the provision of a nutrition garden managed by parents, communities, and local organizations that care about children's welfare.

The Nutritional Garden program will include the provision of healthy vegetable, fruit, and plant seeds; provision of agricultural/gardening tools; training to improve food production, processing and storage capacity; monitoring the impact on toddler nutrition; and even competitions to increase the involvement and engagement of parents and caregivers.
