The project begins with a community triggering process on the importance of hygienic behavior, followed by training so that the community can make their own toilets with basic standards. The toilets will also be equipped with a basic handwashing facility, so that children and the community can practice handwashing behavior.
With an emphasis on behavior change in and through the community, WVI will not only help build and maintain the hardware, but the project will begin with promoting behavior change within the community. The project is carried out with the cost-effectiveness of WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) programs in mind and provides strengthened data and evidence-based monitoring and design.
