A Spark of Hope: How Your Support Lights Up Young Lives Like Magdalena's

Magdalena, a 16-year-old vocational school student, lived her days like most teenagers. Mornings were spent at school, while in the afternoons she filled her time cleaning the house and playing volleyball, a sport she really enjoyed. However, Magdalena's life became much more meaningful since Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) began assisting her village.
Before WVI arrived, Magdalena admitted she often felt bored after school. There weren't many activities she could do, so she often ended up lazing around. But everything changed when Magdalena started actively participating in various activities facilitated by WVI.
"Before, I didn't have many things to do. But now, there are lots of activities that keep me busy and make me feel useful, like socialisation and the children's group," Magdalena said enthusiastically.
One of the most memorable activities for Magdalena was the formation of a youth group in her village. This activity not only provided a space for Magdalena and her friends to get together, but also became a place where they learned various life skills.
At the first meeting of the children's group, they were encouraged to delve deeper into themselves through a session titled "Who Am I?". In this session, Magdalena and her friends were asked to write down their most memorable moments with their families.
"My family used to often eat together, go for walks, and share stories. We also often joked around together. Those are the most memorable moments for me, because I know not all families have that opportunity," Magdalena recounted, her eyes sparkling as she remembered those wonderful times.
Through this activity, Magdalena increasingly realised how valuable she was and the importance of protecting children's rights. "I'm grateful to be able to join children's activities like this. I've learned a lot about myself and become more confident. I am a child who must be protected and cared for," she expressed sincerely.
At the end of the session, Magdalena conveyed her deep gratitude. "Thank you to World Vision Indonesia and the sponsors for their attention and support for me and my friends. We are proud and happy to have gained so much knowledge. May we all always be healthy and successful," Magdalena concluded with a grateful smile.
