Boost the Handwashing Habits in Society, I-COPE Project Shares This Items

Stopping the spread of Covid-19 still needs to be done. Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) through the I-COPE project funded by the European Union aims to reduce and limit the spread of Covid-19 in many ways. One of them is by helping the community and health workers to continue to implement health protocols, including routine handwashing with soap (CTPS) activity through the provision of CTPS facilities.

One of the CTPS facilities was provided at the Sub-Puskesmas (Pustu) of Ate Dalo Village, which is one of 5 WVI service villages in Southwest Sumba Regency. Korlina Kondo as the administrator said that the provision of CTPS was one of the 'gifts' for this pustu. The reason is that the CTPS facilities can help health workers when carrying out their duties, as well as people who seek treatment at the pustu.

“The water reservoir for the CTPS facility is also large in size, so the water capacity is very large, thus helping health workers in preparing water. If we use a 20-liter bucket (for) 10 patients, we have run out, especially if there are a lot of patients, we find it difficult to get water and collect water, so when this facility comes we are happy because our water usage can be up to 2 weeks and can also stock up water in large quantities,” said Korlina.

Not only placing it in one pustu, but the I-COPE project also helped increase public awareness of washing hands, by distributing hand washing buckets to people's homes.
