Cadre's Story: Willing to be Busy for Children Free from Violence
Nur'ima (44) live as an honorary teacher at an elementary school, and that job is not making her busy working for the children in her village. That is why the woman who is often called Ima becomes a volunteer in almost all program areas in her village. Why did she do this?
"I'm happy that there are positive activities in the village and I don't care if I have to spend time without being paid, there are many things that I can receive not only with money," she said.
Not only that but Ima has also been involved as a child cadre with WVI since 2019. According to her, the various activities she has done with WVI have provided many good things for the people in the village.
"The understanding of how to respect children and how to prevent children from violence taught by Wahana Visi Indonesia encourages me to be more willing and willing to assist children," she said.
Because of her dedication and assistance to children and the community, especially to various children's study groups, as well as the ASKA (Savings and Loans Association for Child Welfare) groups for adults and children, various activities can run routinely until now. Even so, Ima admitted that she faced many challenges when carrying out her activities as a child cadre with WVI. One of them is related to WVI's identity as a Christian humanitarian social organization, which often causes criticism from the public.
However, Ima didn't care. The important thing for her is that what she does is a good thing and can have an impact on the lives of the children. She continues to work for the sake of child protection and children no longer experiencing violence.
"During WVI mentoring and as long as I was a WVI cadre I never got a case of violence against children that caused trauma or disability. What happened in our village was that children were scolded, said harshly by their parents," said the mother of one.
Ima still hopes for the best for the children in her village. She hopes that with her efforts in the field of child protection, more parents will respect the opinion of their children, and maintain household harmony.
"I hope that the children in my village can develop, become successful children who respect their parents, parents have savings for their family needs, parents no longer abuse their children," she completed.
