For Children Development, Yohana Starts to Accompany Her Children in Playing and Learning
Studying from home during a pandemic situation is not easy for some parents. It also felt by Yohana Dhao, a mother of a representative for Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) children from Ende Regency. For her, accompanying children to do study at home is a difficult thing.
"The teacher gives assignments for the children and they do it at home ... Because the children have spent all day long at home, after studying we let our children play outside the house," said Yohana, telling of how she faced the problem.
Like other parents, Yohana gave her children the freedom to do activities outside the home after studying. However, after receiving accompaniment from the school, Yohana knew that what she had been doing all this time was the wrong thing.
"It turns out that we also have to assist our children in playing because it is good for their development. Now, I am starting to assist children in learning and also in playing,” she revealed.
Yohana received accompaniment from a school that has been trained by the WVI Area Program Ende to assist parents in assisting children in carrying out study from home during a pandemic. Yohana and other parents also get various tools in the form of Being a Tough Parent Module, playing tools such as snakes and ladders and children's creativity books, and drawing tools, which parents can use by parents in playing and learning activities at home with children.
"This makes us more enthusiastic about doing activities with our children at home because we can choose games or activities that we will do together," she added.
Until now, WVI continues to assist in the children's education process in service areas. The phenomenon of study from home makes WVI not stay still but moves to make it easier for parents and children to enjoy togetherness even though they have to stay at home.
