The Change Starts with the Child's Forum
Winny (17), has joined the children's forum in her village since she was in junior high school. Some many activities and lessons allow her to develop her communication skills and dare to speak in public.
“Before joining the village child's forum, I was embarrassed and afraid to speak in front of people. Especially if there are guests who come to the house, all of us children go straight to the kitchen and don't join in to talk with guests. But since there was WVI (Wahana Visi Indonesia) and a child's forum, I was taught to be brave enough to speak, and expressing opinions, so that I could join the national child's forum with activities in Makassar," said Winny.
Currently, Winny is in high school and she is preparing to continue her studies to college. All forum's members also trust her to be the chairman of the village child's forum for the 2020/2021 period.
Winny plans to continue her studies in English Literature or Sociology so that she can work at WVI. That is her current dream.
Now, Winny can facilitate and become a peer facilitator for her friends. She provides information about the dangers of child marriage and the dangers of social media for children.
Winny is one of the thousands of CHILDREN who benefit through child sponsorship programs and WVI mentoring programs. You can also support other girls to have a full life like Winny.
