WVI Socializes the Importance of Social Protection for the Community

Wahana Visi Indonesia's I-COPE project funded by the European Union, together with the Daur Mala Foundation, collaborated with BPJS (Social Health Insurance Administration Body) Employment Ternate City Branch by providing social protection insurance assistance to farmers, MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) peoples, and people with disabilities (vulnerable groups). This assistance is carried out through community registration as members of BPJS Employment in 43 villages in Ternate City.

This is done considering that there are still many people who do not understand the importance of social protection guarantees for survival. In addition, not all people, especially workers with uncertain incomes, understand the benefits of BPJS Employment membership. They considered that BPJS Employment was only for formal workers such as employees or wage recipients.

About 435 people have benefited from this program. In addition to registering as a member, WVI also helps pay fees for the first three months. Not only that, two BPJS Employment participants who work as farmers and traders also receive a death benefit of IDR 42 million from the implementation of this program.

A recipient of this compensation said that the money received on behalf of his parents would be used for the daily needs of the bereaved family.

"As the family of the deceased, I thank Wahana Visi Indonesia and the European Union for registering my mother as a BPJS Employment participant, so that I was the heir receive death benefits from this program," he concluded.
