New Hope of Children in Pengembuk Subvillage
#LombokBangkitKembali – Monday, August 19, 2019, is special for children in Pengembuk Subvillage, North Lombok Regency. They were celebrating new Children Playing Centre and PAUD (Early Childhood Care and Development) Ceria II which located in Pengembuk sub-village.
The earthquake that struck Lombok 1 year ago had destroyed PAUD buildings in this village. This condition made children of PAUD Ceria II were unable to attend school for 4 months. About 47 children studied in a temporary school.
"The earthquake that occurred could not save even one thing in this PAUD. Luckily the earthquake occurred at night if in the morning I do not know what the fate of the children," said Juarto, Head of PAUD Ceria II Foundation.
Seeing these conditions, Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) in collaboration with IKEA Indonesia is committed to building the Children Playing Center and PAUD Ceria II in the Pengembuk Subvillage to replace the children's learning places that have been destroyed.
The process of build the Children Playing Center and PAUD Ceria II lasted for approximately 3 months until finally it could be inaugurated on August 19, 2019. The inauguration was attended by the ranks of the North Lombok Regency government, student guardians, and several other humanitarian organizations in Lombok.
"I'm very happy, here are lots of toys, lots of books, we can also draw as much as we want," said Alfat, one of the students.
This good practice is supported by the regional government of North Lombok Regency. The regional government will then duplicate this development project in another place. In addition, PAUD Ceria II will receive operational assistance for the construction of permanent classes from the local government in the amount of Rp200,000,000.
"What an extraordinary thing, this suburban area can get European-class facilities from child-friendly IKEA. Many thanks to Wahana Visi Indonesia and IKEA Indonesia for helping with the education of children in this sub-village. Hopefully, the children can be comfortable and cheerful to go back to school as the name PAUD Cheers," said Putradi, Secretary of Sport and Youth Education Office of North Lombok Regency.
Hopefully, the Children Playing Centre and PAUD Ceria II become a new hope to achieve the ideals and dreams for the children of Pengembuk Sub village. Hope for a brighter future.
