A Small Help to Boost Enthusiasm
On Saturday morning, Khoirilah (39) walked through narrow alleys in the residential area of RW 05 Marunda, North Jakarta. Khoirilah and her fellow administrators of the Maju Selalu Waste Bank never tire of pushing trolleys from house to house to pick up residents' waste savings. Entering narrow alleys is something that is usually done by the management of the Maju Selalu Waste Bank.
Narrow road conditions often make it difficult for these women to work. The trash carts they previously had were even too big, making it difficult for Khoirilah and her colleagues to pick up trash from people's homes.
That was before. Fortunately, the Maju Selalu Waste Bank received a small trolley from the Phinla Wahana Visi Indonesia project in November 2021. Since then, Khoirilah and the administrators on duty have made it easier to carry out the 'pick up the ball' action to residents' homes.
Although previously there were many obstacles, the management of the waste bank is now able to walk down small alleys to collect waste savings from residents as well as conduct socialization related to the importance of managing household waste.
"People are enthusiastic. They want to collect garbage because now there is a 'pick up the ball', we visit their house, initially, residents were lazy to collect garbage because they were lazy to come here (the office). Now after we have a trolley, Alhamdulillah, they have started collecting garbage, so we just need to 'pick up the ball' using this trolley. Thank you WVI for giving the trolley,” said Khoirilah.
Because of the enthusiasm of the Maju Selalu Waste Bank, now people are also increasingly aware of the benefits of sorting waste and saving money in a waste bank. Currently, the number of their customers continues to grow.
"I hope that the Maju Selalu Waste Bank will always have its administrators and most importantly, we ask the government to give us a place, to give us land so we can have our place. That's all," concluded Khoirilah.
