Appreciation from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government for WVI's Efforts to Improve Literacy

During the 2022-2024 period, WVI, in collaboration with partners and corporate donors, has successfully implemented 12 projects that support the improvement of children's literacy skills at the elementary school level in DKI Jakarta. For these efforts, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, for the first time, awarded WVI the Derap Kerja Sama Jakarta or CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) Award 2024.

The Derap Kerja Sama Jakarta Award 2024 is divided into three categories: health, environment, and community empowerment. WVI is one of the award recipients for the community empowerment category. By carrying out a community empowerment project titled "Building Literacy," WVI has proven that collaborating with various parties, including corporations, can have a greater impact on children.

Literacy issues are not only a problem in remote areas but also in the capital city of Jakarta. Through the Urban School Library project model, children in schools spread across Jakarta can once again access a variety of reading materials. The old slogan "love reading" is once again heard because children once again have libraries or computer labs that they can use for reading.

Not only are facilities fulfilled, "Building Literacy" also means equipping teachers with adequate skills to trigger increased literacy. Teachers are facilitated to carry out creative and enjoyable literacy activities. For example, teachers in some schools have initiated storytelling, poetry reading, and role-playing activities. These activities are not only carried out routinely but are also competed. Children are more immersed in the world of literacy, which is more than just comprehensive reading activities.

This appreciation is an encouragement for WVI to continue developing effective projects that have a positive impact on Indonesian children. Thank you to every school, partner, corporation, and donor who has supported the implementation of literacy projects in Jakarta. Let's continue to join hands to advance the literacy skills of Indonesian children.
