Child Protection Starts with the Family
“My name is Titin, one of the village officers in one of the assisted villages of Wahana Visi Indonesia. Some time ago, I just attended the Sponsorship Basic Training held by Wahana Visi Indonesia. It was not just me who participated, but several cadres in my village also participated.”
Those are what Titin (34) said regarding the Sponsorship Basic Training (SBT) which she attended a few weeks ago. She said that she had learned many lessons while participating in activities with Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI). One of which was related to child protection.
This mother of two said that all this time she had been using violence against children, such as yelling and scolding children. She felt sorry that what she did would also leave an impression on the child and could even cause trauma to the child.
"I think I have to learn slowly so that the same thing doesn't happen again. I have learned little by changing my speaking habit. In the present time, I speak more softly. Sometimes after work, I feel tired to take care of the children, but slowly I learn to put the children first,” she added.
The woman who works as a village staff also said that she was very happy with the training held by WVI. Moreover, the training can reach all cadres, so they can return to sharing knowledge with the community for the creation of child protection in the village.
“I hope that all cadres who take part can actively contribute to spreading the values of child protection both in the family and in the community in the village. I also hope that Wahana Visi Indonesia will also review the SBT that has been carried out in our village so that in the future we can remind each other,” she concluded excitedly.
