Parenting Style of Cici Panda in a Pandemic Situation

The Covid-19 pandemic is a hard situation. Not everyone can go through it smoothly without pressure and obstacles. As experienced by Veronica Felicia Kemala or known as Cici Panda. The mother of Alika and Kamala has also experienced a big 'shock' at the beginning of the pandemic.

Her job and her husband's as MC (master of ceremonies), made both of them lose their jobs. Various events and activities that were supposed to be hosted by them were canceled. This of course has an impact on the family's finances and the way Panda and her husband take care of their children.

Despite the difficult times, Panda and her husband decided to stay calm and convey the family's condition to their children. Panda's lifestyle adjustments were also made to keep the family able to survive during the pandemic.

"For children, it is certainly not easy to have to change, for example turning on the air conditioner is now only allowed in one room. Moreover, my first child is very critical, many questions from him, how long? I answered Alika honestly but also by not making her panic or worried," said Panda at the webinar "Apa Kabar Keluarga Kita" held by Wahana Visi Indonesia, on Saturday (26/6).

Now, Panda and the family have been able to get through the pandemic. Panda said it was because they had gone through a long process with various ups and downs. There was a time, she and her husband consulted a child psychologist to learn how to raise children under pressure.

"As parents, like it or not, we have to do extra miles for the common good. And it's true after we learned through those consultation sessions, and finally understood what to do, it became easier to deal with bored and stressed children," said the former radio announcer.

Now, it's easier to find activities together. Since there is a rule that the AC only can be turned on in one room, Panda and the family now have more quality time together.

"Even though we are busy, just try to make special time for children. Love is energy. If we love children, it will radiate and can be felt by children," said Panda.

What Panda and the family do can be an inspiration for how to apply parenting with love. Parenting with love is the parenting pattern created by WVI. Together with parents, we can build communication, express love, and be role models for children by implementing this pattern.
