Practice Being a Broadcaster To Promote Children's Rights
Becoming a broadcaster is one of the professions that many people want to be today. To be a good broadcaster, we must also have certain characteristics such as mastering the topic, being good at digging for information, and being proficient in sorting language and voice accents so that the delivery process runs interestingly and the information presented can be conveyed clearly to listeners. But can a broadcaster also voice children’s rights?
Through the Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) Child Forum program in Kubu Raya Regency. The Agents of Change (AP) collaborated with Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) Pontianak to hold a training on the topic “Becoming a Good Broadcaster” and a discussion with the theme “Child Protection.”
The training was held online on 6-7 August 2021, and 30 members from the Ambawang District Child Forum, Kubu Raya Regency, participated.
This training has made the Child Forum gain new insights to sharpen their skills in the broadcasting world.
As felt by Semi, one of the active participants who took full advantage of this training to hone his hobby. “My hobby is (doing) MC, I enjoy participating in this training, it really adds to my knowledge to guide events,” she said.
The training, divided into several sessions, also featured source persons who were competent in their fields. The speakers thoroughly discussed from the stages of the broadcasting process, how to be a good broadcaster to the role of a broadcaster to be able to voice children’s rights.
Besides being taught these things, the participants were also allowed to become co-hosts and even source persons. Of course, this is an opportunity for the Child Forum member to voice children’s rights to each of the speakers who are presented.
Semi, who got her turn to be the co-host in the first broadcast with RRI, also said, “I am excited, this is the first time for me to be a live discussion guide attended by the Head of the Kubu Raya Regency Office but everything went well thanks to yesterday’s training.”
Through the training conducted by the WVI and RRI Pontianak team, it is hoped that this will be a valuable opportunity for children to learn as well as a medium for children to voice their rights and implement the annual program of Child Forum of Ambawang.
