A Book that Helps Children Doing Study from Home
#BersamaMelawanCovid19 - Studying at home is not an easy thing to do for some people during the Covid-19 pandemic. Parents, teachers, and children sometimes have similar problems such as the unavailability of mobile phone for online learning, or the lack of teaching materials that children can use.
Based on this situation Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) Area Program Sentani helps teachers, parents, and children to have teaching materials that help the study from the home process. One of them is through the distribution of the book “Fun Activities at Home for Elementary School Level (6-11 years old)”, which is distributed in collaboration with the Sentani District Education Office. 400 copies of the books have been distributed to hundreds of students in 4 elementary schools in the WVI service area in Sentani since last August 2020.
Suntike (11) is one of the children who has benefited from this guidebook. Suntike admitted that it is easy to practice the various guidelines listed in the book.
“This book is colorful and I like it because the book is thin and the activities in the book are easy for me to do. The suggested learning material can also be purchased at the market. I read this book and I can immediately practice the activities with my mother's help,” Suntike said.
Suntike's mother, Nor (43) also confirmed this. According to her, the study guide she received was quite interesting and easy to apply the concept with children. She helped by the presence of the book.
"Thank you for the book that our children got from school through the assistance of Wahana Visi Indonesia. As a parent, I am very happy because this book is very easy for me to understand so I can help my children study at home,” said Nor.
Not only study guide books, but WVI will also provide pocketbooks named "Tough Against Covid-19" which will also be distributed to children in the Sentani Regency area. The assistance of the two books was the result of donations provided by the Indonesian people through the "Worship from Home" event which was held in July 2020 with Ps. Sidney Mohede.
Similar assistance, in the form of books and additional radio, was also given to children in the Biak and Jayawijaya regions. This assistance has greatly helped children in the Papua region to be able to better access education during the Covid-19 pandemic.
