No Longer Looking for Buyers

No Longer Looking for Buyers

Marlince, or known as Ani (32), a housewife from Sorong Regency, Papua relies on garden products such as bananas and vegetables to increase family income. The results of the garden she brought around the village or deposited in the stalls. Sometimes, even after hours, Ani doesn't find a buyer.

Ani and other mothers do this activity every day. They have to walk to get around. There were not many items to carry, because Ani even had to carry her child while selling.

Wahana Visi Indonesia, which is supported by Pertamina's CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) program, saw the anxiety experienced by mothers in Sorong Regency. Through this program, a simple market was built in the middle of the village area. This market was built to facilitate meetings between selling mothers, such as Ani, and the buying community. Ani and other mothers no longer have to walk far to find buyers.

Since the market was inaugurated, Ani has been increasingly diligent in selling in the market. He got a small kiosk, which can help the family's economy.

“I am proud of this market, we have our place to sell, and we are also happy because we don't have to worry about walking around because there is a market where we can sit and eat betel nut. We were not exposed to the heat and rain. Buyers who come looking for us can sell," said Ani.

Ani is happy with her new activity. He even hopes that more mothers will want to grow vegetables in their homes so that more people will leave vegetables at the market.

"I hope that the women in this village can start growing vegetables in their gardens or at their homes and then the vegetables can be sold in the market so that activities in the market will continue," she concluded.
